Iran, Oman Discuss Arrangements for 3rd Round of Tehran-Washington Negotiations

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi and his Omani counterpart, Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al Busaidi discussed the arrangements for the third round of indirect talks between Tehran and Washington in Muscat.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi and his Omani counterpart, Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al Busaidi discussed the arrangements for the third round of indirect talks between Tehran and Washington in Muscat.

Araqchi, who is leading the Iranian technical-expert delegation, met twice with Al Busaidi on Friday to finalize the preparations of the third round, scheduled for Saturday in Muscat.

Iran's foreign minister and Steve Witkoff, the US president’s special envoy for West Asia affairs, led two rounds of indirect talks in the Omani capital of Muscat and the Italian capital, Rome, in recent weeks.

During the third round, experts from both sides are expected to begin detailed discussions on the technical aspects of a potential agreement to replace the 2015 nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Iran’s technical delegation will be headed by Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi and Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi.

On the US side, Michael Anton, head of policy planning at the State Department, will lead the technical discussions.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baqaei reiterated in a post on his X account Friday that the “termination of unlawful and inhumane sanctions” remains a key priority for the Iranian negotiating team.
